On November 7, CHN Energy successfully completed the installation of the first wind turbine at the 1.5-million-kilowatt Hongsibao New Energy Base, a supporting project for the ±800 kV Ningxia–Hunan ultra-high-voltage DC transmission line. The base serves as a core green power source for the project, with a planned capacity of 500,000 kW of wind power, 1 million kW of PV power and supporting energy storage facilities.

Once operational, the project is expected to deliver approximately 2.747 billion kWh of green electricity annually, meeting the yearly power needs of about 980,000 households and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 7.196 million tons. As a national demonstration project in desert areas, the Gobi and other arid areas, it pioneers an integrated wind-solar co-location development model, playing a key role in advancing new-type power system construction and deepening energy cooperation between eastern and western China.

Despite challenging geological and climatic conditions, the construction team has adhered to innovation-driven practices and strict standards for quality, safety and cost management. The next phase will focus on key milestones to build a benchmark integrated wind-solar-storage development project, contributing a CHN Energy solution to achieving the nation’s dual-carbon goals.
